Wednesday, March 22  Basics of Coffee Pulping  8:00am - 10:30am
This field workshop will discuss the basics of coffee pulping, specifically the effect on beans of too much cherry; too tight; too losse, and right adjustment of breastplate.

Dr. Loren Gautz, University of Hawaii, will conduct the workshop which is cosponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service, Kona County Farm Bureau, and Kona Coffee Council.

April 7-10  Specialty Coffee Association of America Convention  All Day
Four days of representing Kona coffee to the worlds' specialty coffee industry in Charlotte, NC. The event is an annual Conference and Exhibition, and KCC will interact with other exhibitors of high-quality coffee, commercial and home-scale coffee processing equipment, and coffee-related accessories. Buyers who range from roasters, to retailers, to food-service managers will come to the KCC exhibit to discuss opportunities. At the same time, KCC will be represented on a conference panel discussing organic and GMO-related issues as they affect Kona coffee. The place of KCC in the coffee industry will be maintained! 
 
April 8  Fertilizing and Soil Health  8:00am - 10:30am
This workshop will discuss fertilization programs and soil health issues and include a discussion of mulching and composting.

DIRECTIONS: From Kuakini Hwy, turn mauka at the signal on Kamehameha III Hwy. It is one short block up to Walua Rd, where you turn right. Then turn at the first left on Kahoolele St. up to the dead end at Makenawai. After you turn left, Al and Donna Wooley's Island Sun Coffee is the first driveway on the right.
PARKING: In dry weather you may turn up the driveway for on site parking. If it is raining or wet, please park alongside Makenawai.

This event is jointly sponsored by the KCC, UH Cooperative Extension Service, and the Kona County Farm Bureau

Admission is free to members. Non-members $25, which includes membership in KCC.

June 24 to June 25  American Cancer Society 2006 Relay for Life  6PM to 6AM
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. Relay for Life is a community gathering rather than an athletic event, anyone and everyone can participate. Businesses, clubs, families, friends, and organizations form teams and share a common purpose: supporting the American Cancer Society by walking (or running) on a closed course in shifts for 12 hours.

The length of your shift is determined by you. We did it last year, let's do it again!
